NyteOwl Jack
Guitars & Vocals

I got the name NyteOwl Jack because I was the founder, band leader, co-vocalist and featured guitarist in a Classic Rock quartet called NyteOwl, a band that played together for eight (8) years with three of the original band members going the distance. Most recently I was the featured guitarist in The Joe Friday Band, a band I co-founded in 2004, but left in late 2007. It wasn't easy walking away from Joe Friday, because we did have something very special, but my partners were moving in a direction I didn't want to follow and after a lot of soul searching I realized the best thing for all involved was for me to move on.

After taking a few months off, I started looking for musicians who understand really good bands don't just happen by accident and who are willing to put in the time to do it right. People who know how to play with dynamics and finesse, who do their homework before coming to rehearsal, who know how to play WITH other musicians instead of AT them, and who simply don't want to be part of a mediocre band. My former guitar partner Joe Medieros was also looking for a new project, so we've teamed up once again to reform NyteOwl, and we'd like to round out the new band with drums, bass, keyboards and perhaps a female vocalist.

Now if all you want to do is fake your way through bar gigs for pin money, this project is not for you.  It is not a jam band, nor a situation where "close enough to get by" will be acceptable.  This is a serious situation targeting upscale gigs, doing material a bit more challenging than what your average Classic Rock act is playing, and everyone involved  will be expected to learn, and retain, their respective parts.  So you know what's expected, here is a link to live recordings I made with The Joe Friday Band.

Please listen to these clips, and with all due respect, do us both a favor by taking an honest look at what you have to offer.

If you cannot consistently perform at this level, please do not waste my time.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but for the last few months nearly everyone I've dealt with has been a disappointment.  They all talked a good game, but failed miserably when it came time to back up their braggadocio.  Many of them didn't even listen to the audtition material I provided for them and those who did listen to it didn't put any time into learning their parts, but instead chose to show up and just wing it.  Life is simply too short to waste time making noise with lazy, irresponsible people who think they can play and/or sing.  I want to make music with a group of dedicated players who will inspire each other into becoming even better musicians, not lazy people who want to drag better players down to their comfort zone.  Trust me on this, if there is one thing I've learned over the last 40+ years of performing it is...

Being part of something special is a lot more fun than being part of something ordinary.

...and if doing this kind of material interests you get in touch with me at nyteowl@bellsouth.net.  Tell me about yourself and your musical experiences, send along your credentials and a link to any sound clips you may have posted on BandMix or MySpace, or anywhere else.  You already know what I'm bringing to this party, so tell me what you can bring to the table.  Upon hearing from you, I'll answer any questions you may have, provide you audition material in mp3 format so you'll be working with the same arrangements as everyone else and we'll schedule a date and time to get together.
